THERE are not many strikers that can say they have scored more than 30 goals in a season for Rangers and Alfredo Morelos is now set to join some fairly illustrious company at Ibrox sooner rather than later.

His four strikes in the Scottish Cup win over Kilmarnock on Wednesday night took him to 27 for the campaign and you wouldn’t bet against him reaching the milestone within the first couple of games after he serves the final match of his suspension against Hamilton Accies.

I am really proud to have hit that30 goal tally for Rangers and Alfredo will now join myself, Ally McCoist, Mark Hateley, Kris Boyd and Marco Negri as the only ones to achieve that in nearly 50 years.

His performance against Killie was just superb and he deserves all the praise and plaudits going for the way he played on a really pleasing night for Steven Gerrard.

What I liked most of all was the different type of goals that he scored.

You can say the first one is a tap-in, but you need to be in that position to tap it in, and he got away from his man brilliantly.

For the second one, he has followed the ball in, got away from the defender and headed it in from close range and then he completed his hat-trick with a stunning finish.

He hammered the ball into the net and that was a typical strikers’ goal.

But, for me, the best one was the fourth one. When the ball breaks in the box, he is a few yards offside and he sees that Rangers could win the ball so he sprints to get himself into position again. His control and finish were terrific.

It was Morelos at his best and in the kind of form that has made him such a favourite with the fans, and that will ensure Rangers get a significant amount of money for him when he moves on from Ibrox.

We all know the talk about his temperament and his discipline, but when you can score 27 goals at this stage of the season, especially when you are not a penalty taker, then that will bring you to the attention of other clubs in big leagues.

He plays up front on his own and his form has been unbelievable.

It is going to be difficult to keep him in the summer, that is for sure, because he will want to go and play in the Premier League against the top clubs and for the large salaries.

If you look at Moussa Dembele going for £18million last summer, then Rangers can really set a high asking price for Morleos.

He has scored more goals than Dembele did at this stage of the season, so you have got to be thinking of £20million or so.

The more goals he scores, the more interest he will attract.

I would love to see him stay at Rangers, of course I would. But when he does move on it will be for serious money because he is getting better all the time.

Steven has said that some clubs might not look at him because of his temperament but anyone that scores goals like he does will be wanted.

At 22, I can understand if Alfredo wants to go and play in a bigger league. But that will only happen if Rangers get what will easily be a record fee for the club, by some way.

People will say players in Scottish football aren’t worth that, but Celtic have got some big fees for their players in recent years.

So there is no reason why Rangers can’t do the same thing and why they shouldn’t be commanding a lot of money for Morelos.

It would be great if he stayed for one more season but the supporters will be realistic and just enjoy him while they can. Hopefully he can leave with a winners’ medal.
