Celtic fans have spoken about the return of Brendan Rodgers with one Hoops supporter saying, "All is forgiven".

The Parkhead club unveiled their new manager on social media on Monday afternoon as fans gathered at the ground to welcome back Rodgers. He will replace Ange Postecoglou who joined Premiership side Tottenham Hotspurs.

Signing on a three-year deal, fans at the ground said that they were pleased with the appointment as they hope the Northern Irishman can take them forward.

Hoops fan Martin Connelly, from Shettleston, was at the stadium speaking to fellow fans about the announcement and he feels Rodgers is joining at the right time.

He said: “I am very delighted, and so are all of my family and friends about the appointment.

“He is currently joining a team that is flying high. So much so, we are flying the league flag very high.

“He is walking into a team that has got stability and for me, he is just the icing on the cake”

James Woods, from Coatbridge, said: “I am so delighted about the appointment but gutted that Ange (Postecoglou) had left.

“He had been here two years and done a remarkable job but to be able to bring Brendan back is the icing on the cake (for the season).

“We’ve just won the treble, and I hope that he brings back exciting football again and progress in Europe.”

Rodgers, who is about to embark on his second spell at the club, had previously been at the Parkhead side between 2016 and 2019.

However, after leaving the club in the middle of the season, fans were disgruntled about the manner he had left the Hoops.

This led to many people creating abusive chants towards the 50-year-old with the word “rat” being connected with him.

But despite this, many fans have said that they have forgiven him and understand why he left.

James added: “I think that all is forgiven.

“If he wins the first couple of games and the first Old Firm game then it is all in the past.

“Onwards and upwards, that’s it now as he has just come back to a club that’s won a treble.”

Fans who had visited the ground came from all over the country, but not as far as California like McCartney Wearn. He was visiting the stadium when the appointment was announced.

The 50-year-old American, who has followed Rodgers' career, said: “I am excited for Brendan to be coming back to Celtic as he will bring continued success to the club.

“I think tactically he is a great manager.

“Rodgers will allow the club to have more access to talented players, as players will want to come and play under him.

“It seems to me at other clubs that whether it is in Scotland, England or other European leagues it is the manager who is the big draw for the players."
