STEVEN GERRARD is relieved he doesn't have to cast a vote for the end of season awards at Ibrox - because the competition to land the prizes is too stiff this term.

Rangers will move within a point of the Premiership title if they can overcome St Mirren this afternoon and will then be crowned champions if Celtic fail to beat Dundee United on Sunday.

The form and consistency that Gerrard's side have shown individually and collectively this term has been remarkable and the Ibrox boss is delighted with the approach of his silverware heroes.

Gerrard said: "The team is the superstar here. We are not built on five, six or seven superstars. There is no ego in this squad. Everyone contributes for the team.

“The players have all bought into that. We have to do things, our behaviours all have to represent what’s best for the team. That’s the pleasing thing for me.

“The other pleasing thing for me is that I don’t have to pick a Player of the Year or a Goal of the Year, because that could take some time.

“There are many candidates and rightly so. But thankfully our fans can pick our Player of the Year and Goal of the Year, because I wouldn’t like to do that."
