LAST Saturday's Kelme Scottish Amateur Cup 6th Round matches saw five sides make it through to this week’s quarter-final draw.

Two ties ended in deadlock. These games will be replayed this coming weekend. Gartcosh United versus East Kilbride YM fell victim to last week’s heavy rain. They will also try again on Saturday.

Cumbernauld-based Eastfield (Central Scottish AFA) were the day’s top scorers, sweeping aside the challenge of Lauriston Thistle from the Lothian & Edinburgh AFA, who had shocked Harestanes in the previous round. Eastfield recorded an emphatic 5-1 win.

Three of amateur football’s well-known names impressed, each with a notable 3-1 away win. Ayrshire’s Shortlees made the long trek to Aberdeen and overcame Cowie Thistle. Tollcross Thistle (LEAFA) ventured along the East coast to defeat Menzieshill in Dundee. And, Drumchapel (CSAFA) swept aside Merpro (Midlands AFA) in Montrose.

Fintry (MAFA) grabbed their place in the last eight with a hard-fought 2-1 win against Glenburn Miners Welfare (Ayrshire AFA).

Braehead (Stirling & District AFA) versus Sandys (LEAFA) and the all Central Scottish affair between Wishaw High School FP and Oban Saints ended 1-1. In both matches, the away side held a 1-0 advantage at the break, only to see the home side stage a second-half fightback. Braehead left it late to force the replay.

The dream of a Hampden Cup Final appearance edges closer for each of the sides left in the competition.
