STEWART ROBERTSON hopes there will be no repeat of the disciplinary chaos that blighted Scottish football last season.

Rangers were at the forefront of the calls for change at Hampden after raising a number of issues with the way that the system operated under the guidance of Compliance Officer Clare Whyte.

Alterations were recommended to the Scottish FA over the summer and Ibrox chief Robertson said: “We are in regular dialogue with Ian Maxwell.

“We just hope that this season sees fewer issues than we saw last season. Last season wasn’t good for the game at all.

“I’d love to see no mistakes at all from referees but they are human beings and you accept that happens.

“But there are other aspects around the disciplinary procedures that caused us a lot of frustration last year. I’m hoping they won’t cause us as much this year.”

Changes were confirmed along the Hampden corridor on Monday as the SPFL installed the six club representatives that will serve on the League board during the coming campaign.

Robertson has returned to the top table this term and said: “The first time I came on was a case of sort of normalising the club and going back to what the way things used to be.

“What I am now finding with the SPFL is that the clubs are more collegiate, there are more conversations going on between the clubs than previously.

“There is a lot more informal dialogue now so it is maybe less important to be on the board than it was three or four years ago.

“I think Scottish football is actually in as stable a position as it has been for some time.”
