OVIE EJARIA savoured the best atmosphere of his career as Rangers moved top of Group G with victory over Rapid Vienna.

Goals in either half from Alfredo Morelos and a James Tavernier penalty clinched a 3-1 win for Steven Gerrard’s side at Ibrox.

It was a deserved three points for the Light Blues as they followed up their draw in Villarreal in style to take top spot in the section and extend their unbeaten run in continental competition to ten matches.

Gerrard hailed the performance from his players as they bounced back from the shock Premiership defeat to Livingston at the weekend.

And midfielder Ejaria was blown-away by the noise from a packed Ibrox on a memorable European night for the Gers.

He said: “It was a really good performance by us. Everyone was really happy. The atmosphere was great as well.

“It was the best I have ever experienced. Nothing has been close to it - especially after Alfredo scored the third. The noise was just incredible.

“The aim was to win. We came here to win and we are happy to get the three points.

“Yes they were quite physical. But we were quite aggressive defensively and out of possession and the important thing was we got the three points.

“At times they tried to slow the game down and stuff like that. They were aggressive but so were we and we are happy to get the win.

“Yes, of course [we are in a good position to qualify]. It’s early days still but it’s great to be at the top of the group. But we will just focus on the next game.

“It’s still early days but if we keep playing like we did tonight hopefully we will have a chance of making the knock outs.

“The games are coming thick and fast and we just have to focus on the next one and hopefully get a positive result against Hearts.”
