PET owners have been warned after a dog was bitten on the neck by a venomous snake while being walked.
A concerned dog owner shared the warning via Bearsden-based vet Glenbrae Veterinary Clinics.
They were enjoying a walk in Burncrooks Reservoir, a popular walking area north of Milngavie when the dog was attacked by an adder.
The dog was taken to an animal hospital for overnight monitoring and is said to be doing "okay".
The post read: "If you see one of these please avoid!"
According to the Wildlife Trust, the adder is the UK's only venomous snake and prefers woodland, heathland and moorland habitats.
