Concerned residents are hosting a protest march this weekend following a fatal collision two months ago.
In a bid to raise awareness of safety issues in and around Bearsden’s streets, residents, visitors, parents, and business owners will be marching through the town centre to demand East Dunbartonshire Council do more.
It comes after Una Brandreth tragically died after being hit by an HGV on March 19 in the town centre.
Though 999 crews rushed to the scene of the fatality, the 56-year-old mum was sadly pronounced dead.

Rory Crawford, a parent of children at both Bearsden Primary and Early Years Centre, and one of the organisers of Saturday's march, said: “Bearsden’s roads are not safe. The levels of traffic - including lots of HGVs - are too high, putting people at risk from both collision and respiratory illness. I’m particularly concerned about the situation around our schools and nurseries - what sort of childhood are we offering our kids if we can’t provide them with safe active routes to school?
"While the council says it wants to encourage walking and cycling, very little is being done to make those things safer and more appealing. We should not be waiting for the next tragedy to inspire action - the solutions are out there and we need the local authority to take them.
“We are asking for the council to begin seriously engaging with a positive, safer future for Bearsden - to consult on some tangible, evidence-based plans to tackle the issues. This is the beginning of a movement to bring the community together to create a safer place for us to live, work and go to school.
“We urge other community groups to get in touch so we can make sure all voices are heard as we work towards a cleaner, healthier and safer future of the local area.”

The march will take place this Saturday at 10am.
Those looking to take part can gather at Bearsden Primary School from 9.30am.
East Dunbartonshire Council chef executive, Ann Davie, said, "The Council is awaiting the outcome of the Police Scotland investigation and will continue to liaise with Police Scotland and assist as required."
