A vacant Glasgow land that previously hosted several huge productions could be used as a film and TV base again.

Autoport Ltd has applied for planning permission to use an empty land as a "unit base" for film and TV vehicles.

The space, between Elliot Street, Lancefield Street and Lancefield Quay, has been used for this purpose before.

According to papers, crews of Batgirl, Tetris, Indiana Jones 5, Borderlands, Black Mirror and more set up camp in the area before.

These workers utilised the ground as "primarily for the parking of vehicles and storage of mobile equipment".

Glasgow Times:

Since then, the applicant claims, there has been substantial interest from other national and international teams seeking to do the same.

Currently, the land is in use as a car park, but this would stop if the bid was successful.

The company said this would "ensure that the site remains secure from unauthorised access and dumping and is kept clean and tidy".

They are seeking permission to run the base unit for one year before the site will be redeveloped as shops, restaurants, hotels and homes.

Glasgow City Council is considering the application and a decision is expected by Friday, June 7.

The last day for comments is Wednesday, May 22.
