UNIVERSITY students were given an in-depth insight into the process of building a house.
The Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) BSc Construction Management students visited the live construction site of Cala Homes West's Jordanhill Park development.
David Sutherland, project director, and his team guided the students through the process, allowing them to witness ongoing works at the site located in Glasgow’s West End.
He gave the group, including GCU lecturer Mike Galbraith, a tour of the development, from the different stages of on-site construction and within properties before conducting a health and safety presentation and Q&A session.
Mr Sutherland said: "We were happy to welcome the students to safely visit both the construction part of the site as well as the finished products so they can see the full life cycle.
"Its so important to give them the opportunity to see the practical side of the job.
"I really hope they enjoyed the visit, it’s important that we can contribute to our community in different ways and there is so much to see at Jordanhill Park."
Mr Galbraith thanked the team for hosting the first year students.
He said: "We all had a fantastic time, along with some great insights and discussion points from the wider Cala team.
“The walk round, in particular, was invaluable to the students to help them understand the complexity and technical needs of such a large project, especially when it comes to regenerating old buildings and building new ones.”
