A woman has been rushed to hospital after a 'crash smash' on a busy road in Glasgow.

999 crews, including police and the ambulance service, raced to Minard Road in the city's Southside after being made aware of a crash between a car and a van on Thursday, February 15, shortly before 8pm.

Two fire trucks were sent to the scene, where firefighters worked to make the area safe.

Following the incident, a woman, who was the driver of the car, was taken to hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the driver of the van, who is a man, has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

Both vehicles were recovered after the accident.

We previously reported that Minard Road was shut from Pollokshaws Road to Waverly Street during the crash.

The road opened shortly after 10pm.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 7.59pm on Thursday, February 15, to reports of a road traffic collision involving one private car and a large van on Minard Road, Glasgow.

“Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances to the scene, where firefighters worked to make the area safe.

“Three casualties were reported and handed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.”

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “We received a report of a crash involving a car and a van on Minard Road, Glasgow, around 7.55pm on Thursday, February 15, 2024.

“The female driver of the car was taken to hospital for treatment.

“The male driver of the van is the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal.

“Recovery of the vehicles was arranged.”

A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service added: "We received a call at 8.05pm on Thursday, February 5, to attend an incident on Minard Road, Shawlands, and transported one patient to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital."
