From family favourites to Hollywood classics, these are the latest flicks coming to a town hall near Glasgow.

Kirkintilloch Town Hall is playing host to the Kirky Picture Palace where movie buffs can enjoy a range of films.

The upcoming line-up includes PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie, Wonka, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Treasure Planet.

Glasgow Times:

Guests can see PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie on Saturday, February 24 at 1pm, and Wonka on the same day at 3.30pm.

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes airs on Friday, February 16 at 2pm in a dementia-friendly setting while the baby-friendly screening of Treasure Planet will be shown on Tuesday, February 27 at 10am.

The screenings are organised by Your Kirky and supported by East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture (EDLC) Trust which operates Kirkintilloch Town Hall.

EDLC's chair Councillor Jim Gibbons said: "It's great to see so many people enjoying films, old and new, at the heart of the Kirkintilloch community.

"I hope movie fans can continue to support the initiative and the town hall. Well done to all involved."

To keep the events going, the Kirkintilloch Picture Palace relies on the hard work and efforts of volunteers - one of whom is George Crooks.

He said: "The fact we work as a team is great. I enjoy the social and fun side of things – harmony, fellowship and chatting to the community in general."

It comes after we reported that the venue hosted its first-ever Scottish Film Festival.

The Water Horse, Wild Rose, and Sunshine on Leith were among the pictures lighting up the big screen.

The cinema's co-ordinator Serina Marshall said: "Many thanks to everyone who came along to the festive screenings and our first Scottish Film Festival.

"We're pleased to be able to provide a range of movies for local residents – including screenings for young children and people with dementia.

"If you have a passion for the pictures and want to volunteer to help, please get in touch."

Tickets for the screenings are on sale now at https://yourkirky.com/kirkypicturepalace or by paying on the door.
