Nineteen new homes are set to be built on the site of a former Old Kilpatrick care home in 2024.
When construction begins next year, the planned new development at Mount Pleasant will see cottage and tenement flats and terraced bungalows.
The proposals took a step forward last week after West Dunbartonshire Council's tendering committee agreed to award the design and build work to CCF (Scotland) Ltd.
And committee chair Councillor June McKay explained it shows the council's commitment to improving residents' lives.
She said: "I am delighted that our contracts require firms to think about ways they can work to benefit our communities while they work with us.
"This is another way in which the council has shown its commitment to making the lives of our residents better.
“Now that a contractor has been appointed for the design and build, this project will move towards planning proposals.”
As part of the social benefits aspect of the contracts, the CCG has committed to paying all staff the real living wage and will use local companies for sub-contracting opportunities.
In addition, they will recruit at least two employees from the West Dunbartonshire area.
