Glasgow City Council have issued an update regarding the upcoming secondary school strikes.

Taking to X, previously known as Twitter, the council stated that Glasgow secondary schools will be open for S4 to S6 pupils during the three days of strike action.

This is with the exception of the Glasgow Gaelic School.

The action, which is due to a dispute over pay, will run from September 26 until September 28.

Today's announcement comes after the Council stated on September 15 that all nurseries, primaries, secondaries and ASL schools would be closed as a result of the action.

Two unions have announced thousands of staff, including cleaners, caterers, janitors and support assistants, will take part in strikes which will affect primary and secondary schools in dozens of local authorities, including Glasgow, South Lanarkshire, West Dunbartonshire, and East Renfrewshire.

Graham McNab, Unite industrial officer, said:  “Unite members across 11 Councils will now take strike action in a matter of weeks.

"The coordinated strike action will result in hundreds of schools being closed for three consecutive days across Scotland.

“Unite has warned the Scottish Government and COSLA for months but they have collectively buried their heads in the sand. COSLA has failed to make an improved offer, and refused to approach the Scottish Government for more resources."
