A GLASGOW-BORN dad has been left 'all shook up' after winning a major pot of cash.

Elvis fan, John Boyle, 64, wife Marilyn, 71, son Francis, 51, and 41-year-old daughter Joanne bagged £235,292 (£58,823 each) in the People's Postcode Lottery.

Taxi driver John, formerly of Cowcaddens, said: "My favourite Elvis song is The Wonder Of You, but I’m all shook up now.

"I never expected to win the big one, but I’m glad that we did.

"I never had this sort of money before. It gives you a sense of being able to do what you want to do, a sense of freedom."

The fab four, who were among 15 neighbours to share in the £1 million prize, plan to use their money to revamp their home, which they have all shared for 37 years and on holidays. One holiday in mind is a return to the King's Graceland shrine after a previous trip with John's brother Eddie a decade ago.

John said: "We went before on an anniversary when there was a candlelit vigil at Graceland.

"You had to queue to get in through Graceland holding your candle. It was so long, it took about five hours."

Glasgow Times:

John settled in the Manchester area 50 years ago before meeting Marilyn, who he has been wed to for 44 years.

He’s now stepdad to three children from her first marriage – including Francis – before having daughters Joanne and Kirsty, 38.

Joanne said: "I told everyone else to play the Postcode Lottery because I thought it was a good thing to do.

"I’ve been playing for 10 years, and I started to think we’d never win big but I have now - we all have. It’ll definitely take the pressure off."

Speaking on winning the money, Fran admitted that the family thought it was a scam at first.

She said: "Someone has tried scamming me twice, so when I got the call telling me I’d won I didn’t believe it.

"I texted our kid, Jo, and asked if she’d had a call. Then my mum phoned me and told me they’d also got a call and it was all real."

Postcode Lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson said: "I loved meeting John, his family and all the other neighbours who shared £1 million - I'm sure they'll be playing a few of Elvis' classics at the street party.

"I hope they all enjoy the celebrations and spending the cash. I’m already looking forward to visiting our next Millionaire Street."

The People’s Postcode Lottery costs £12 a month to play. People play with their chosen postcode and are automatically entered into all draws. A minimum of 33% of each ticket goes to charity.

Every Saturday, £1 million will be shared by one postcode as part of the lottery’s Millionaire Street prize and every Sunday, one postcode will be announced as a £30,000 prize winner.
