New York has also appeared in Glasgow in the form of 63rd + 1st, the new bar and restaurant on Bothwell Street.
General Manager Sian O’Brien tells me that the new space, based on an American 1960s Art Deco influenced design, is all about celebrating the fact we can gather together again: “We want to make people feel welcome. It’s really important that the guests don’t feel rushed when they’re in here. There’s no time limit. If it’s a quick after work drink then great. If you come in for brunch and you are still here for lunch then you can do that too.”
Impressive cocktails have caught the attention, now Sian says they are introducing a lunch club to showcase the food menu:
“It’s about taking a chance on different dishes, trying new things and mixing and matching small plates”.
Jammy chicken lollipops with chilli, truffle arancini with parmesan and tornado chips with black pepper mayo are popular choices.
In the evening there is a six course tasting menu with matching cocktails.
