Great British Bake Off (GBBO) returned for the fifth episode of the 2021 series last week with one baker winning the star baker accolade and another leaving the show.
Each week amateur bakers take part in cake challenges where they attempt to pull off signature, technical and showstopper bakes.
Every episode is a combination of a baking week and last week’s episode showed the bakers taking on German week.
Who left Great British Bake Off last week?
Unfortunately, another episode of GBBO meant another contestant had to leave.
This time it was Freya’s turn to say goodbye to the Bake Off tent.
The 19-year-old psychology student from North Yorkshire will not take part in any further challenges.
The programme’s Twitter account tweeted a letter from Freya, writing: ““I feel genuinely blessed to have had the chance to share my love of vegan baking with the world” Here’s a lovely letter from fabulous Freya to all you Bake Off fans. #GBBO”

What is this week’s theme on Great British Bake Off?
This week it’s pastry week and the amateur bakers will take on baking challenges such as the deep fried signature bake, a challenging technical and a showstopper that’s savoury, not sweet.
Great British Bake Off continues on Channel 4 on Tuesdays at 8pm.
