The Prince of Wales honoured Barbados’ war dead as he began the first full day of his Commonwealth tour.
In National Heroes Square in the shadow of the parliament building, Charles laid a wreath to mark all those Barbadians who paid in the ultimate sacrifice in the pursuit of peace.
Mia Mottley, Barbados’ prime minister, the Duchess of Cornwall and crowds nearby watched as the prince left the floral tribute at the country’s Cenotaph in the capital Bridgetown.
The hand written note read “In grateful remembrance, Charles”.
The royal couple are at the start of a major Caribbean tour, but it is likely to be overshadowed by paparazzi pictures of Charles and Camilla on the beach.
The images, taken on Monday during a day off from their 12-day tour, show the couple spending down time in the sun.
Photos of Charles have been published online, but his wife’s images have not been used.
