PLANS to build a new day care centre in Drumchapel have taken a step forward.
On Thursday, Glasgow City Council approved negotiations concerning the disposal of council-owned vacant land at Hecla Square.
It is understood this is to allow for the construction of a facility which will be an expansion of the neighbouring Antonine Court Day Centre.
Gaining access to the site would allow the organisation – which provides tailored care and support to adults with additional support needs and youth services – to expand its current facilities and provide additional outdoor space including a sensory garden.
The council noted negotiations with Antonine Court would now continue.
Councillor Ruairi Kelly, the council's convener for neighbourhood assets, said: “Supporting the delivery of additional day care provision in Drumchapel will be welcomed by parents locally and turning vacant land back to productive community use is a major priority for this administration.”
