Schitt’s Creek star says incredible thing about Billy Connolly

Eugene Levy, also known for his role as Jim's dad in American Pie, joined the Capital Evening Show with Jimmy Hill last night as he told the host about his stay in Candacraig during a recent trip to Scotland. 

The property, which is located in the Highlands, was apparently bought by the legendary comedian and his wife Pamela Stephenson in 1998, according to Candacraig's official website. The pair lived there until 2014.

Hill asked the actor: "You stayed in an incredible sort of Scottish castle. I think you said the building was older than Canada. Did anything, like, creepy or weird or scary happen while you were staying in this really ancient building?”

Levy replied: “No, outside of having a hunk of haggis put on a plate, that was pretty creepy. That’s pretty scary.

"But that place belonged to, I think, Billy Connolly, the Scottish comedian. I had no idea comics made that kind of money.

“That was a major, major place. 14-rooms, one of the best stays I’ve had since I’ve been doing the show.”

Levy also opened up about his Scottish roots while on the show. 

Speaking about his mum being born in the country, he said: "I didn’t think it would affect me the way that actually did (coming to Scotland). 

"I felt a real connection to my mum and her side of the family, all my aunts and uncles. And just kind of being there, where she grew up, seeing what it was like, was an eye-opener for me.

"I found it a really moving experience.”

The actor's visit to Scotland came as part of his new travelogue series, The Reluctant Traveler. 

He has so far visited the likes of Midsummer and Saint Tropez also.
