The cast of a hit musical featuring the songs of top producer Max Martin has been announced. 

Gerardine Sacdalan, Sandra Marvin and Lara Denning will star in & Juliet which will come to Glasgow's King's Theatre in August.

Ms Sacdalan will play Juliet, Ms Marvin will take on the role of Angélique while Ms Denning will portray Anne in the musical which will run from August 13 to 24.

Additional casting details are yet to be announced.

Post its successful run at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London’s West End from 2019 to 2023, & Juliet currently entertains audiences at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on Broadway.

Glasgow Times: Sandra Marvin as Angélique

Ms Sacdalan, a recent graduate from Urdang Academy, is known for her performance in Made In Dagenham In Concert at the London Palladium.

Ms Marvin is recognised for her roles in Emmerdale (ITV), Call the Midwife (BBC), and theatre performances including Sister Act The Musical and Waitress. 

She also sang the title track on the Grammy-winning soundtrack for the George Clooney and Sandra Bullock film Gravity.

Ms Denning's theatre credits include Sunset Boulevard, Matilda, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 and ¾ and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

& Juliet challenges the conventional narrative of Romeo and Juliet by depicting a new life for Juliet.

It features a playlist of pop anthems from Max Martin, the songwriter/producer behind hit performers like Britney Spears and Katy Perry.

After breaking box office records, & Juliet is now in its second year on Broadway and plans a US tour in September 2024.

Glasgow Times: Lara Denning as Anne

The musical made its North American premiere in Toronto in 2022 and opened in Melbourne in February 2023, before heading to Singapore this summer. 

& Juliet is directed by Luke Sheppard, with a book by David West Read, choreographer Jennifer Weber, set design by Soutra Gilmour, and the music is by Max Martin & Friends.
