AN EAST Kilbride school has received an early Christmas present.
Staff and pupils at St Louise Primary are celebrating following a positive report from Education Scotland inspectors.
The report commended the school’s “warm, inclusive culture of learning” where “children are happy, confident and very keen to do their best in all aspects of school life.”
It also praised the “close partnership working with parents/carers” which “helps to ensure that all children have equitable opportunities to achieve.”
The inspectors were also impressed by St Louise’s “high-quality learning and teaching” and added: “Staff work together very effectively as a team to provide creative and exciting learning, which motivates and engages children.”
The report also praised “improvements in the progress which all children are making in their learning, including those who may require additional support.”
Two areas for improvement were identified and discussed with the headteacher and a representative from South Lanarkshire Council.
The inspectors said the school should “continue to provide children with opportunities to apply what they are learning in literacy and numeracy across all other areas of their learning” and staff should “build on existing good practice to develop further how they know children are making progress across all areas of the curriculum.”
Siobhan Mooty, headteacher, said: "I am incredibly proud of all staff, families and pupils of St Louise Primary who make our school a place where everyone feels welcome and included, and a positive environment in which to learn.
“We are delighted that inspectors from Education Scotland were able to experience this positive and welcoming atmosphere during their visit and they identified many strengths that support our priority to provide high quality teaching and learning for our young people.
“We will continue to work closely with our families and parent council to maintain these high standards in order to continue flourishing in our school community."
