A FUN run with a distinctly festive feel is set to celebrate its 20th anniversary in Renfrewshire next month.

The 2023 Jingle Bell Run, organised by Active Communities, takes place on Sunday, December 3, and is now open for online entries.

Barshaw Park, in Paisley, will once again be jingling with the sound of Christmas bells as it hosts two races – a 3k run at 11am, which is open to all those aged eight and over, and a 1k run at noon, which is open to people of all ages, including those in buggies.

Glasgow Times:

Those taking part are encouraged to wear a festive outfit by wearing jingle bells on hats, coats, gloves, shoes, or wherever their creativity takes them.

Bells will be provided on the day upon presentation of your race number.

To make this anniversary extra special, all race finishers will receive commemorative 20th anniversary Christmas-themed medals.

And for those who want to add a touch of whimsy to their run, there will be spot prizes for the best costumes.

Glasgow Times:

Cheryl Thomas, programme development manager for Active Communities, which is based in Johnstone, told The Gazette: "The Jingle Bell Run is the ideal way to begin the festive season.

"We expect that this year, our 20th anniversary, will be bigger and better than ever!

"We can't wait to hear the bells ring out across Paisley, and to see what fantastic costumes our amazing joggers have in store for us!

Glasgow Times:

"It's a wonderful event for all the family."

Participants can enjoy a free train ride on the Barshaw Park miniature railway, as well as Face painting and a variety of Christmas entertainment.

Entry to the 3k run costs £7 while the 1k run is priced at £5 per person.
