SHOCKING images show the moment cops seize massive cannabis plants after a raid in a residential area in Glasgow’s Southside.

Police raided a former furniture warehouse in Strathbungo on Friday night, after beat cops uncovered a cannabis farm.

Now, surreal footage has emerged of officers in hazmat suits retrieving huge cannabis plants from the illegal plantation.

Videos captured by an eyewitness living across the street show dozens of plants wrapped in white sheets being moved from the site and amassed into a white van.

Some are so large they have to be carried by three people.

The resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “I first noticed police presence on Friday, and then yesterday folk in hazmat suits started bringing out huge, huge wraps with cut-down plants, and they filled an entire van.

“Some of them were taken out in plastic bags, like they had run out of the wrap stuff.

“It was quite bad watching passersby literally just walking past and staring at a big massive van full of weed.

“Because they hadn’t properly wrapped a lot of it, it was just huge chunks hanging out the end.”

They added: “My boyfriend said he had been smelling something early in the morning when leaving for work, as obviously there would be no other smells, like cars or people cooking…

“But we weren’t expecting something like this, and something so bold in what is a residential area.”

The cannabis cultivation was discovered on the site of the former Phoenix Furniture Glasgow shop

In February 2020, the store announced a closing down sale and shut up shop shortly afterwards.
