CLAIMS a popular holiday park near Glasgow had opened its doors to COP26 delegates are untrue. 

Bosses at Craig Tara have confirmed there is no truth to online rumours that the Ayrshire hub was set to welcome guests from the climate change summit. 

When asked by the Glasgow Times about the posts, a source at Haven, which operates the site, said the claims were "untrue".

Thousands of delegates and world leaders - including US president Joe Biden - are set to arrive in Scotland this week for a fortnight of crunch talks at the Scottish Exhibition Centre (SEC). 

As we have told previously, accommodation in the city has been beset by lack of rooms and price hikes with greedy landlords trying to make the most of the United Nations event. 

Just this week, MSPs were told that thousands coming to Glasgow still had nowhere to stay.

Environmental campaigners said they are aware of official delegates with no accommodation and who can’t afford the hugely inflated prices being asked on sites like AirBnB.

Dr Kat Jones, COP26 Project Manager, Stop Climate Chaos Scotland, said “Three thousand people are on a waiting list for accommodation."
