It is a rate of 238.3 per 100,000 population.

The drop is slight, compared to 241 per 100,00 for the previous seven days, but still takes the city lower than all the other big cities and well below the Scottish rate of 319.4 per 100,000.

Cases vary across the city and range from 697 per 100,000 in Knighstwood Park East to below 0 to 2 cases in Mount Florida and Victoria Park.

Roystonhill, Blochairn and Provanmill have below 50 cases per 100,000.

Ruchill, Gallowgate North and Bellgrove, Mount Vernon North and Sandyhills and Finnieston and Kelvinhaugh have below 100 cases per 100,000 population.

As well as Knightswood Park East another 14 areas are higher than 400 per 100,000.

Despite having the most people and being population dense, Glasgow has a lower rate than the other cities.

Edinburgh has a rate of 248 per 100,000, Aberdeen, 271 over 100,000 and Dundee 356 per 100,000.

The drop has come ahead of tens of thousands of people about to come to the city for the COP 26 climate change conference and protests starting on Monday.

There is concern that case numbers could rise with so many people coming in.

Nicola Sturgeon said this week that cases could increase after the summit.

She said: “it’s inevitably the case that an event of this scale poses a risk.”

The First Minister said that steps are being taken to ensure that delegates are fully vaccinated before arrival and the event space has strict hygiene procedures.
