GREENOCK Wanderers make the long trip north to take on Strathmore, writes John Dyer.

Tomorrow's fixture comes with added pressure and it's fair to say it's a game the Fort Matilda men must win - even at this early stage of the campaign.

Unlike recent fixtures against the likes of high-flyers Hillhead and Lasswade, Grant Sweenie's side will go into the game at Inchmacoble Park as favourites.

The Forfar side are currently bottom of the Tennent's National League Division Three and have suffered some heavy defeats.

On the road, their form doesn't make great reading, with a 71-24 defeat to Howe of Fife and a 52-2 mauling against West of Scotland.

Wanderers will hope to add another loss to Strathmore's poor early season record, but the Fort Matilda coaching team will no doubt be stressing to the players that there's no room for complacency and they will be desperate to avoid a shock defeat.

Last Saturday in the home loss to West, Wanderers were unable to convert forward dominance into a winning score.

At least 14 of West's points were gifted by poor tackling and defence as the locals went onto lose 31-24.

These areas have to be tidied up in order to secure a much-needed victory tomorrow.

Training has gone well this week and head coach Sweenie has nearly a full squad to choose from.

In the forwards, last week's double try score hero Louie Hoodless is unavailable and is replaced by Andy Graham.

The backs have yet to be finalised with selection still to be confirmed due to some injuries.

The jury is still out on former captain Leigh Tyley's move to stand-off.

Previous incumbent AJ Guthrie, who dropped to the seconds squad last week, may have done enough to come back into the side or play at scrum-half as Andrew McDougall is unavailable.

Let's hope it is a happy bus on the way home.

Meanwhile, Wanderers' 2nds host Allan Glen's tomorrow in the West Reserve League Division Two.
