GREENOCK Golf Club were crowned Inverclyde Golf’s 2021 team champions after an excellent contest.
The competition was played at Gourock Golf Club and involved 12-man teams from all four clubs in Inverclyde.
The tournament is held at one of the four clubs in Inverclyde on a yearly rota basis, with 2021 being Gourock’s turn to welcome Greenock, Port Glasgow and Whinhill golf clubs.
The competitors were treated to a course set-up in great condition on a dry day making ideal golfing conditions.
The format sees 12 four-ball-better-ball matches, with each club playing two matches against the other three clubs.
The event ended up a two-horse race between Gourock and Greenock with the difference between the two coming in the two head-to-head matches between the clubs, with Greenock Golf Club winning both matches.
Greenock would finish with five points from a possible six, with Gourock one point behind on four.
Thanks goes to all four golf clubs - especially the team captains Barry Higgins (Gourock), David MacFarlane (Greenock), Steven McLeod (Port Glasgow) and John Donald (Whinhill) for fielding teams in the event.
