GLASGOW Club members have been allowed back into a West End sports club following a minor fire.
We told earlier this evening how Glasgow Club Scotstoun was evacuated and emergency services called to the scene.
Pictures posted on Twitter showed black smoke billowing from the back of the sports centre.
But the Scottish Fire and Rescue service said the incident was a rubbish fire to the rear of the main building.
It was quickly extinguished and there were no reports of any injuries.
Some classes were cancelled as a result of the blaze but the centre is now up and running as before.
A spokeswoman for Glasgow Life said: “Police and fire crews were called to a fire outside Glasgow Club Scotstoun on Wednesday evening.
"The building was evacuated while the fire was dealt with, and re-entry to the facility was permitted from 7.30pm.”
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service had said two fire engines attended the scene around 5.45pm.
There was alarm locally as nearby residents saw black smoke appearing to come from the building.
Awful scenes coming from Scotstoun Leisure Centre - hoping emergency services are able to contain the fire & that everyone is safe. https://t.co/PwINaeUwZd
