PLANS for a new takeaway in Gilshochill have been refused by Glasgow City Council.
Food To Go Glasgow Ltd requested to turn an empty unit at 127 Glenavon Road into a hot food store.
The vacant property, which occupies two middle units, has lain empty since November 2018.
It had been marketed for retail use, but at the time of Food to Go Glasgow’s application, there had been no offers to use the site for retail purposes.
An application was lodged to the council, asking if the site could be used as a takeaway, serving “pizzas, kebabs and chips etc”.
The store’s proposed opening hours were to be 11am to midnight.
Four jobs could have been created - two full-time and two part-time positions.
The council said the reason for refusal was due to the proposal resulting in less than 50 per cent of the units in the block being retail, to the detriment of placemaking aspirations for local shopping facilities.
