A WELL-LOVED Berlin boozer owned by a Glasgow rocker is to change hands leaving punters devastated.

Das Gift, in the German capital's trendy Neukölln area, has been owned by Barry Burns, the keyboard player in Glasgow indie rock band Mogwai for the past 11 years.

Alongside his wife Rachel, the pub was known as a must-visit for Scots in Berlin.

In a statement released via the bar's Twitter, Barry wrote: "We're very sad to announce that our 11-year reign of the lovely pub is coming to an end.

"We'd love you to come and de-christen the bar any time between now and (probably) Sunday, August 15, when new management will take over.

"Thanks to everyone who came and made the bar the hub of everything we loved about Berlin. We've met some magical people in there and had some wild nites but it's time for us to move on."

Devastated customers paid tribute to the bar on social media.

One said: "Sorry to hear that, you two ran such a great boozer."

Another added: "Gutted. Such a class pub with some great toilet stickers."
