A SHOPKEEPER was left "shaken" by an attempted robbery after a thug assaulted him.
The attacker came in to the shop from the direction of Glenlee Street before entering the Glasgow Road shop in Hamilton.
He assaulted the worker before trying to rob the shop but left empty handed and ran off in the direction of Purdie Street.

He was tall, white, of a slim build and was wearing black or dark clothes, dark New Balance trainers and a black rucksack.
Cops have been knocking doors in the area and are checking for local CCTV cameras which might have captured the incident.
Detective Constable Steven Totten said: “I am appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident to think back, maybe you saw the man run off after the crime or maybe you saw him before committing the crime. Any small piece of information could be vital to our investigation.

"I would also ask motorists with dash cams to check their footage as they may have captured an image of the man which cold assist our enquiries.
"Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 2616. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be provided anonymously."
