AN asymptomatic Covid testing centre has opened outside Glasgow.

The Auchinairn facility opened its doors to patients today.

Facilities that test people for the virus who do not have symptoms are being opened in areas where infection rates remain "persistently" high.

There is no need to book an appointment and there is no limit on the number of people who can be tested. If you do have Covid-19 symptoms, you should not attend the facility.

The centre is found in the hall at Auchinairn Community and Early Learning Centre and is open Monday to Friday from 12 noon until 8pm.

Andrew Polson, the joint leader of East Dunbartonshire said: "The purpose of these community testing centres is to identify anyone who does not have symptoms of Covid-19 but who has the virus and is spreading it to family, loved ones and the wider community without knowing."
