A MULTI-purpose arts and venue space in Maryhill has been given permission to extend its opening hours.

The Engine Works, on Lochburn Road, applied to Glasgow City Council to operate seven days per week until midnight.

At present, opening hours are restricted to Thursday to Saturday only until 12am.

In a supporting statement, it read: “By allowing the venue to operate until midnight seven days per week then it will allow the business to grow and attract more events.”

Glasgow City Council said events can now run between 10am to 12am Monday to Sunday.

The Engine Works was built in 1843 as an engineering works and remained in constant industrial use until 2011 when it was vacated and remained

closed until 2016. The building was then purchased by the applicant who invested more than £1m in the restoration of the building.
