A SUSPECT has denied murdering a man who died in hospital.

Reece Sweeney is accused of killing Jamie McGready, 33, at a property in Summertown Path in Glasgow's Ibrox last August 31.

It is alleged the 21 year-old repeatedly struck Jamie on the body with a knife.

Jamie later passed away at the city's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital that day.

Sweeney faces a separate charge of then attempting to defeat the ends of justice including claims he got rid of a knife and hid clothes in a pram.

Sweeney appeared via video-link for a short hearing today at the High Court in Glasgow.

His QC John Scullion pleaded not guilty on his behalf and lodged a special defence of self defence in connection with the alleged murder.

No trial was fixed. Lord Fairley instead adjourned for another hearing in May.
