26 schools and nurseries shut for the day due to weather conditions
A total of 26 schools and nurseries have closed for the day due to the harsh weather elements.
South Lanarkshire issued the update via their website as the region woke to sheets of ice and snow after the first snowfall this winter.

The following South Lanarkshire schools closed for the day are:
- Abington Primary School (Nursery is open)
- Bent Primary School
- Braehead Primary School
- Carluke Primary School
- Carmichael Primary School
- Carstairs Junction Primary School
- Carstairs Primary School
- Coalburn Primary School
- Coulter Primary School
- Crawford Primary School
- Crawforddyke Primary School
- Douglas Primary School
- Kirkfieldbank Primary School
- Kirkton Primary School
- Law Primary School
- Leadhills Primary School
- Milton Primary School
- Rigside Primary School
- Underbank Primary School
- Biggar High School
The following South Lanarkshire nurseries will be closed for the day:
- Black Mount Primary School Nursery (School is open)
- Blackwood Primary School Nursery (School is open)
- Biggar Primary School Nursery (School is open)
- Robert Owen Memorial Primary School Nursery (School is open)
- Woodpark Primary School Nursery
