STEVEN GERRARD was full of praise for a ‘special footballer’ as Steven Davis bossed the victory over Dundee United on Saturday.
The 35-year-old produced a superb showing in the middle of the park as Rangers ran out comfortable 4-0 winners thanks to goals from Ryan Kent, James Tavernier, Kemar Roofe and Scott Arfield.
Davis moved level with Pat Jennings as Northern Ireland’s record cap holder against Norway in midweek and quickly settled back into the domestic groove for the Light Blues.
Gerrard said: “Special footballer. If anyone would have had an excuse today to be a little bit off it or a little bit flat it would have been Steven Davis.
“Two international games, travelling away from home, at his age. But he doesn’t use excuses.
“He goes out, does the job, exactly what you ask him to do he does it. He is a top class individual.”
