Newcastle are reportedly plotting a £30million bid for Celtic star Odsonne Edouard.

The Hoops striker has registered 62 goals and 31 assists during 126 games for Neil Lennon’s side, and now he is attracting big money attention from south of the border.

The Daily Star report that Toon boss Steve Bruce is plotting a move for the one time PSG striker and the St James’ Park side are willing to splash £30million for his services.

They claim Bruce has held video meetings with his top transfer recruitment staff in recent weeks, before pinpointing Edouard as their number one target.

Reports also suggest that Newcastle are keeping tabs on Rangers ace Alfredo Morelos. The Light Blues striker has fallen out of form in recent times, but is still highly regarded by the Magpies.

Former Kilmarnock defender and son of Steve, Alex Bruce, claimed Edouard was the best player he had come up against in recent times and his old man has obviously taken note when scouting to improve his team.

He told last month: "I have told dad about Edouard so we’ll see. When you look at going into Europe to buy a top striker now, I mean Newcastle paid £40million for Joelinton, the price teams demand nowadays for top strikers is huge.

"When you think of what it might cost to get him out of Celtic, it might be worth a punt.

"Whether you could get him for £20-30million, I know it sounds like a lot of money but in today’s market it might be alright and if he comes and does anything near what he does (in Scotland) in the Premier League then it would be great.”

Lyon and Everton are also reportedly interested in the services of the French under-21 international.
