A MAN and woman have appeared in court in connection with a string of alleged robberies in Glasgow and Milngavie.

Arun Khaira, 23 and Yasmin Hassan, 22, both of Glasgow appeared in the dock of Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Thursday.

It comes after four alleged robberies and attempted robberies in Glasgow and Milngavie which took place between Saturday, January 11 and Monday, January 13.

Three incidents took place on Saturday at stores in Sandbank Street and Bilsland Drive in Maryhill and South Mains Road, Milngavie. 

A fourth incident took place at a store on Douglas Street, Milngavie, on Monday.

Khaira is accused of two counts of assault and robbery as well as two counts of assault with intent to rob. 

He is also charged with two road traffic act offences including careless and inconsiderate driving and driving without insurance.

He is also accused of having a weapon in a public place.

Meanwhile, Hassan was charged with two counts of assault and robbery. She was also charged two counts of assault with intent to rob. 

She is also accused of driving without insurance. 

Both made no plea in relation to the charges. Khaira was committed for further examination and remanded in custody. He is expected to appear again within eight days.

Hassan was committed for further examination but released on bail.
