A MASKED gang thought to be responsible for several break-ins in Glasgow and the West have been targeting Asian households.
Police Scotland confirmed yesterday that the victims of the recent spree of crimes were Asian families, who are often targeted for valuable gold and cash on property.
It comes after we reported that the gang, who drives a white Audi saloon car, was seen acting suspiciously outside a property in the Murchison Road and Hewett Crescent area of Houston on Wednesday.
Around £300 in cash and jewellery was stolen from a property in Darnley's Haberlea Avenue on Sunday night while money was taken from a house in Ardrossan's Kirkhall Gardens on Sunday night.

The men, who wear balaclavas, were described as having southern English accents.
We have previously reported on the Asian gold theft crisis.
From April 2019 to November 2019, police received 35 reports of break-ins to properties in Glasgow, Paisley, Renfrew, Ayrshire, and Edinburgh, resulting in over £500,000 worth of jewellery and cash being stolen.

Police Scotland has even set up a dedicated team to tackle the issue through Operation Suitcase.
DI John Morrison, who was leading the task force last year, previously told us that Police Scotland had been working with forces in England to catch those responsible.
