A man has been left with serious facial injuries after being slashed on a Glasgow street.

The 51-year-old victim was approached by a male dog walker while walking along Netherhouse Place in Easterhouse at around 2.30pm on Friday.

He was seriously assaulted in what appears to be an unprovoked and random attack.

He suffered a laceration to his face and was subsequently taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, where he has since been released following treatment.

The attacker fled the scene quickly after the assault, and it thought to have run in the direction of Allnach place.

Police are now searching for the man responsible, and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

He is described as white, around 5ft 10 inches in height, in his late 20s and has fair hair.

At the time of the attack, he was wearing dark coloured clothing and was walking a medium-sized, sandy coloured dog.

Officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries and are reviewing CCTV footage from in and around the area for any additional information.

Detective Constable John Boyd said: “This man has been walking along the street and has been attacked for no apparent reason.

"I am appealing to local residents and the public for any information which could assist our inquiries.

"Perhaps someone saw the suspect run off, perhaps someone recognises the description of the man and the dog.
