Organiser Jane McCourt Brown said: "Steven lost his life in Wishaw on New Year’s Day in a Road traffic accident.

"I believe his family will need and use the funds raised for his funeral and to maybe buy a plot or headstone.

"Please give generously because most of Wishaw and Coltness knows Amanda, his mum, and she may well be worried about the cost of such procedures.

"God bless, guide and comfort you Amanda in these tragic circumstances."

After seeing the amount had surpriassed £2,200, Jane said her faith had been restored.

She wrote: "My heart is aching for Steven's family. My faith in our local community has been restored. You all rock! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you."
