A MAN is to stand trial charged with an attempted murder at a mosque.
Zohib Hussain, 20, is alleged to have assaulted Haroom Abassi in August this year at Masjid-E-Khazra Muslim mission in Glasgow’s Govanhill.
Prosecutors claim Hussain stabbed Mr Abassi with a knife causing severe injury, permanent disfigurement, danger of life and attempted murder.
The charge claims that Hussain was on bail at the time of the alleged offences. Hussain is also charged with acting in a threatening or abusive manner by brandishing a blade at the mission. He faces another charge of possession of a knife.
Hussain pled not guilty at Glasgow High Court and has lodged a special defence of self defence for the charge of attempted murder.
