A SCHOOL girl with autism was visited by a special Christmas elf after she hand made 310 bookmarks to raise money for the brain tumour charity.

Naomi Gynnne’s twin brother Isaac is severely autistic and epileptic needed major surgery after his family discovered he had brain tumour.

Naomi is just one of the 11 children who was rewarded for her courage and bravery by Aspire Academy Glasgow’s elf Elsie or a Disney princess during their 12 days of Christmas giveaway. Eastermuir School also won a prize.

Gail McCarthy, business developer, said: “Naomi, who also has severe anxiety which means she can’t speak in school, was over the moon with her prize.

“Her mum messaged me afterwards to say she hadn’t stopped speaking all night which was a big step for her. It was so touching to hear how much we had made a difference in the families life.”

Three-year-old Jessica Quinn was nominated by her mum due to her acts of kindness to her friend, at nursery, who is deaf. Jessica has learnt basic sign language to communicate with her friend and cuddles her at nap time so she isn’t scared.

Farrah Stevenson has helped her mum rehabilitate dogs with behavioural and medical issues. She wants to be a vet when she is older and even chose to hand rear newborn kittens herself as they had no mum.

Every weekend Farrah volunteers with Canine Campus Pet Rescue and Foodbank which her mum is the founder of.

Kayla Buonomo sadly lost her little sister, Kiara, to an 18-month battle with brain cancer.

During this time Kayla was a rock to her mum and little brother, Ajay. During her sisters treatment Kayla never left her beside and was always on hand to cheer her up, give cuddles and help stay positive.

At just three-years-old Harry Craig, helped an elderly lady carry her heavy shopping up a hill. When he saw she was struggling, Harry ran over to assist her.

Nursery school girl, Erin Cahill plays with all the children ensuring noone is left out and shows unconditional love to her sisters. Erin also helped her mum when she was going through cancer treatment. The rest of the winners will feature in tomorrow’s paper.
