Correspondent Alex Guy is spot on regarding the correlation between the increase in fly tipping and the charges made by councils to uplift rubbish (Points of View, December 4).

If folk cannot afford these high charges to dispose of rubbish it goes without saying that a percentage of them will be willing to get rid of it illegally.

Bring in a comprehensive, free cleaning/removal service and it will eventually pay for itself instead of councils having to hire more contractors and pay for increased security.

can I agree with T Paine, who posted online about the Liberal Democrats (or as I call them, the promise breakers). They did support the bedroom tax and austerity, but would Jo Swinson like to tell us how is Nick Clegg and Danny Alexander are getting on?

I bet they do not have to worry about their children’s university fees.

The promise breakers should hang their heads in shame.

Willie Rennie of the Lib Dem’s reckons the party “is on the way back up”.

Let’s remember one small detail dear voters out there. It’s the Lib Dems that are to blame for the mess the entire nation is in just now.

Their beloved leader Nick Clegg, jumped in to the devil’s bedchamber and formed a coalition with David Cameron. Cameron called the EU referendum, the people voted Leave and the rest, as they say, is history,

And their current leader Jo Swinson has voted for more cuts in benefits for poor people and carers than probably any other opposition leader.

Open your eyes people, PLEASE.

Regarding the former Lord Provost Eva Bolander’s spending, she should pay back half, especially with her salary.

I’m sure all employees would like thousands of expenses per year, and who know what else?

I am an almost 60 year old woman living in West Dunbartonshire and have been an avid fan of the Evening Times for most of my life.

I am enjoying the new look Evening Times as well as the newly launched Glasgow Times but am sorely disappointed that DinerTec is missing!

Hoping for his return to Thursday’s paper.

Regarding the girls’ school that is now going to be mixed, if you want your own schools, build them.

But remember this is how things are done in Scotland. Abide by the rules.

Don’t forget, Subway (Animal rights protest, December 5) also failed to meet legal food hygiene standards at its Glasgow stores this year during inspections from the Council, according to the Evening Times (April, 4 2019).

No doubt we will hear from people defending Subway that it creates jobs. But do they pay staff the real living wage?

It must be one of the worst jobs to do – preparing and serving chickens that have lived horrific lives to people who could not care about these things.

Eating less meat is one of the best ways to reduce individuals carbon footprint.

all Subway stores around the world are owned by hardworking business people. It’s a franchise and its getting tougher out there in the High Street.

We have several new vegan options on board now, which will help and I’m sure the parent company will release a statement which will clarify this matter.

It should never have been allowed for a terrorist to be released early from jail which resulted in the brutal killing of two young

people.

Shame on the Government or the parole board, as he didn’t even serve half of the 16-year jail term.
