A Lanarkshire waterpark is to lean into the winter season this weekend as they invite children to try ice-skating - for free.

Time Capsule in Coatbridge is just one of nine ice rinks in the UK to offer free skating sessions with free skate hire to a limited number of kids.

Parents and guardians are welcome to join their children, and Time Capsule say 300 places are available from Saturday November 30 to December 1.

The event is open to children aged from eight to 15 years old and assisting adults.

It is in association with webuyanycar.com, who have partnered with British Ice Skating, to inspire the next generation of skating talent across the UK.

Richard Evans, head of technical services at webuyanycar.com, said: ‘’We’re delighted to have partnered with British Ice Skating again this winter and ten ice rinks across the UK to host this series of festive family events.

Richard added: ‘’Over the years we’ve bought many thousands of cars from customers in the North Lanarkshire area and we’re pleased to be giving something back to the local community.’’

Michelle Draper, CEO of British Skating, said: ‘’We’re excited to be working with webuyanycar.com for the second time to support this series of events and to encourage people to try the sport.’’

‘’Britain has produced a number of exceptional skaters over the years and we’re always keen for new skaters to have a go, you never know when the next Torvill and Dean are going to come along!’’
