A Glasgow lout threatened to 'slit a man's throat' during a 999 call after believing he'd nicked his dog.

Furious Robert Bryson, 52, told how he'd kill John Deans in March last year.

A hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court heard how irate Bryson reckoned Mr Deans had stolen his brown terrier from his Govan home while he picked up a carpet.

Bryson was repeatedly warned about his foul language by the call handler and told the call was being recorded.

But the father-of-four responded: "I don’t care if it’s recorded, I am going to kill that p***k.

"See if I get a hold of him, I'll kill him."

Bryson dialled 999 two more times and continued to shout.

Prosecutor Lucy Adams added: “He made further threats to cut Mr Deans’ throat.”

The dog was returned unharmed that evening.

Police were informed of the calls and arrested him at his home.

He pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court today to acting in a threatening and abusive manner towards Mr Deans.

Sheriff McCormick reduced Bryson’s fine from £450 to £400 due to the guilty plea.
