A VILE thug knocked a beggar unconscious after a row over money.

Gary Findlay then spat at a policeman who was arresting him and said: "I've got hepatitis C."

Gary Findlay, 29, attacked Andrew Hawker, 34, who was begging in Glasgow’s West End in April this year.

Findlay pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court today to the two assaults in Vinicombe Street in Hillhead.

A 999 call was made by a member of the public.

Mr Hawker was bleeding from his head when police arrived.

Miss Adams added: “Findlay was aggressively volatile and was restrained by police.

“Findlay then spat on PC Colin Bones and said 'I’ve got Hepatitis C'.”

Findlay admitted kicking Mr Hawker on the head and punching him.

He was arrested while Mr Hawker was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. He needed stitches to his right eye and suffered bruising to his scalp.

Sheriff Andrew Cubie deferred sentence until next month for reports.

He told Findlay: “This was a quite disgraceful attack and you should expect a period in prison for this matter.”
