Thousands of visitors flocked to Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Park on Sunday to one of Glasgow’s biggest cultural celebrations of the year.

The Glasgow Mela, meaning “to meet”, was held at the park yesterday, with dancing, music and other activities on offer for people of all ages.

Originally started as part of the 1990 European City of Culture festival, the 29th Mela aimed to be a bit different.

New to this year’s event was an artist-in-residence, Mila Brown, who joined comedians, poets and a ceilidh as part of the day’s fun.

Part of the day was the fantastic food which was being served, including some of the very best south Asian cuisine in Glasgow.

The theme of this year’s event focused around South Indian language and songs, exploring the Scottish-Asian and British-Asian experience.
