GLASGOW is edging closer to a “taps aff” weekend as a warm weather front prepares to take over much of the country this week.

The Easter festivities will see the mercury hit highs of around 20°C from Friday - higher than Barcelona where things will reach highs of just 16°C.

Things will be mostly dry and bright today across Glasgow and its surrounding areas, with some sunshine, according to the Met Office.

Temperatures will be a little up on yesterday, especially along the west coast, though there will be a strengthening southeast breeze. The maximum temperature will be 13°C.

Tonight will be mostly dry with clear periods, at first, then becoming cloudy. Overall, tonight will be a breezy, but frost-free, night with the minimum temperature set to be 5°C.

As the week progresses onto Good Friday, a ridge of high pressure will bring dry and settled weather with sunny spells as it becomes much warmer than of late.

The rest of the Easter weekend is looking to be mainly dry and warm, though there is still some uncertainty in the forecast as to how cloudy it will be.

But with highs of 20°C, who can complain?
